(12) The method of mineral estimation using phalanges is described and its reproducibility was tested on 17 parameters. (13) Secondary structural features of bovine amelogenin, a hydrophobic protein of developing enamel implicated in ename mineralization, are derived using 2D NMR spectroscopy in solution and molecular mechanics-dynamics studies.

Dwarf planet Ceres is the largest body in the main asteroid belt with a rocky surface and uncertain internal structure. Spectra of Ceres in near- and mid-infrared wavelengths are consistent with the occurrence of brucite, Mg-bearing carbonates, and an Fe-rich phyllosilicate cronstedtite. Spectra of 10 Hygiea and 324 Bamberga imply similar compositions.

. This and many more mineral specimens are available for sale at Dakota Matrix Minerals. This superb specimen comes from probably the best European location for the uncommon mineral Cronstedtite - the Herja Mine, Romania. This is a cracking specimen for the species.

Cronstedtite is an uncommon hydrous silicate that has a most unusual growth habit. If you look carefully, you can see that the Cronstedtite grows in conical-shaped crystals with a hexagonal outline. Reminiscent of reverse tapered Mica books, I would say.

Cronstedtite mineral

Cronstedtite is a complex iron silicate mineral belonging to the serpentine group of minerals. It has a formula of Fe 2 2+ Fe 3+ ((Si,Fe 3+ ) 2 O 5 )(OH) 4 . It was discovered in 1821 and named in honor of Swedish mineralogist Axel Fredrik Cronstedt (1722–1765). Cronstedtite is not a common mineral but it is not extremely rare and Mindat lists 37 localities (2010). It was recognized as a species since about 1890.

N2 - Dwarf planet Ceres is the largest body in the main asteroid belt with a rocky surface and uncertain internal structure. Chlorite is commonly found in igneous rocks as an alteration product of mafic minerals such as pyroxene, amphibole, and biotite. In this environment chlorite may be a retrograde metamorphic alteration mineral of existing ferromagnesian minerals, or it may be present as a metasomatism product via addition of Fe, Mg, or other compounds into the rock mass.

Cronstedtite is most stable at the temperature of 0 C at moderately oxidizing aqueous con- ditions and at high water/rock ratios. Although cronstedtite could form on planetesimals, the apparent lack of serpentine may indicate its formation by Ceres’ temporary surface solutions.
